The Alexander Technique is a method of exploring coordination - by applying its principles you can take something you wish to do, and find that you are able to do it more efficiently and effectively. This could be anything from playing guitar to dancing to hanging out the washing to sitting in a chair - literally anything can be explored through application of the Alexander Technique. As the Alexander Technique is that it looks at HOW you do WHAT you do, you can use it to learn to perform these tasks in a healthy manner.
The benifits of the Technique include pain reduction, improved quality of performance, and improved coordination.
I came to the Alexander Technique because I was experiencing RSI in my arms from my guitar playing. This, combined with developing more sophisticated ideas about guitar technique via classical lessons with Phillip Houghton have brought me back into the world of performing music - and I couldn't be happier about it!
