Teaching studio- Mount Waverley.
Dr David Soo teaches intermediate to advanced piano students. His students have been prize-winners in local, national and international piano competitions. Furthermore, his students have been invited to present lunch hour and evening recitals in Australia, and have performed concertos in major venues such as the Melbourne Recital Centre. David is also a highly experienced teacher and pedagogue of VCE Music, and is in demand as an academic and presenter.
A much sought-after presenter and adjudicator, David has been invited to adjudicate music competitions throughout Australia, and he has presented and disseminated articles for the Victorian Music Teachers Association. He has also examined piano at a tertiary level too.
David has taught students of all ages and abilities in both Australia and the United Kingdom. He was an Artist Fellow at the Guildhall where taught undergraduate piano. His piano teaching is inspired through his study with world-leading mentors and pianists, Glenn Riddle and Joan Havill.
My teaching is focussed on my personally developed pedagogical principles of freedom and control. I believe it is vital that a teacher does not impose upon a student’s capacity to develop their own individual creativity and pianistic style. A close and open culture of freedom of expression is essential to a student’s sense of well-being and ambition.
Students in my studio will hopefully thrive in an environment which is both supportive and nurturing and designed to develop the individual to the highest standards possible."
