Bass Guitar lessons from WAAPA lecturer

Hi!

I am an experienced and in-demand bassist on the Perth music scene. I hold PhD and first-class Honours degrees from WAAPA, where I currently lecture in bass, ensembles, business skills, and Logic Pro. I was awarded the Vice Chancellor's Sessional Staff Excellence Award in 2021 for my teaching at WAAPA. Other accolades include:
—2022 APRA Professional Development Award finalist
—2020 Freedman Jazz Fellowship nominee
—2015 National Jazz Awards semi-finalist
—4x WAM Jazz Song of the Year winner (2012–2014 and 2019)

I teach bass to students of all ages and skill levels in jazz and contemporary music styles. Topics covered include theory and technique, ensemble playing, timekeeping, improvisation, learning songs, jazz composition, and developing strong practice methods.

I also offer double bass lessons as well as standalone music theory. (As I specialise in double bass, I can help bass guitarists transition to this instrument.)

I am open to small-group lessons and offer bulk payment discounts if you are interested. I usually teach in the Dianella area - if you require lessons at your house a call-out fee may apply (depending on distance).

My time for private lessons is limited but please do contact me and I will try to accommodate where possible! Please also get in touch if you're interested in pursuing study at WAAPA - we'd love to hear from you and have some great opportunities coming up.

Please note: students will need to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and comply with all government mandated requirements (i.e.: masks, etc). Additionally, to protect against transmission, I can no longer offer to share instruments, so students will need to provide their own instrument for lessons.
