My name is Emica Taylor and I am a flautist emerging from Christchurch, New Zealand. I am currently in my first year of studies at the Australian National Academy of Music under the tutelage of Alison Mitchell (QSO principal flute). In 2023 I completed my Bachelor of Music at Te Kōkī - The New Zealand School of Music, studying from NZSO flautist Kirstin Eade.

Teaching has always been a passion of mine and it is very rewarding to support student's growth on their instrument as well as their confidence within their own musical identity. Lessons can look quite different whether we're jamming to a pop song, performing solo repertoire, or playing duets together - I love to cater my lessons to the musical goals that want to be achieved. With over 10 years of experience as a kids and youth leader I am able to make lessons engaging and fun for younger musicians. Currently, I am looking for private students to teach in my apartment in Abbotsford, and I'm also happy to teach at student's homes which are relatively close.

In addition to solo flute repertoire, I can provide valuable insight into orchestral and ensemble performance. My orchestral experience includes being a casual player with the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra and Orchestra Wellington, performing as principal flute for the NZ National Youth Orchestra and guest principal for the Hawkes Bay Orchestra. In 2022 I was the concerto competition winner for the Wellington Youth Orchestra and joined the Royal New Zealand Air Force Band.

In my spare time, I love reading books, strength training, and enjoy spending time with my friends and family.
