Heather Smart (Music Composition)

Heather teaches Music theory and composition. It is important to lay down a foundation of music theory before exploring composition. Heather's passion for composition comes from Stephen Thorneycroft her Lecturer in Composition at the Conservatorium of Music at UNE. This lecturer has an amazing gift and his approaches to contemporary work were inspiring.

Technology is an important aspect of learning and the lessons incorporate use of Sibelius 5.

Those who wish to begin their journey of learning can book lessons which are structured to provide appropriately paced learning in the skills required to be effective in this art.

Beginners: We will start with some simple concepts and structure so that you have the tools to work with your new found interest.

Intermediate and Advanced: Hone in your skills to create that masterpiece.

One on One: If you have a particular musical interest and want to explore your imagination, lets work together and produce something unique.

Group Lessons: Will be allocated within age groups. Small groups are best (maximum 5). As a group we can work together to achieve our own song. This is a six week course and you will learn how to notate your music and also record the end result.
