Jack Mao graduated with a Bachelor of Music (Honours), majoring in piano performance under Elizabeth Green and Dr. Christine Logan and a Bachelor of Education (Secondary) from the University of New South Wales. He also studied piano performance and literature at the University of Colorado Boulder under Dr. Andrew Cooperstock and Dr. Jennifer Hayghe.

Jack is pursuing his Master of Music (Performance) at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, University of Sydney, under the supervision of Professor Neal Peres Da Costa and Dr. Amanda Harris. His research examines the socio-cultural perception of Classical era music, with a particular emphasis on the late piano music of Beethoven and Schubert.

Internationally, Jack has performed in solo and chamber recitals in the US and in Europe, most notably at the Saarburg International Music Festival and School in Germany and the Brancaleoni International Music Festival in Italy. Recently, he was a prizewinner in piano at the Sydney Eisteddfod.

Currently, Jack is Piano Faculty and Accompanist at the Wollongong Conservatorium of Music, in addition to maintaining a large private studio.

Jack has prepared, accompanied and collaborated with pianists and instrumentalists to successful auditions and entrance to the Bachelor of Music degree as well as other tertiary level music programs at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, the University of Sydney, the University of New South Wales, the Australian Institute of Music and the University of Wollongong. His students consistently attain high grades in AMEB examinations as well as Band 6 results in HSC Music 1 and 2.
