Experienced Guitar Teacher ~ Footscray Studio

About Me:

My Name is Jack Palmer, I am a music educator, performer and composer with a Bachelor of Music from the ANU School of Music. Informing my teaching practice is over fifteen years of experience in the music industry working with a diverse array of musical styles and artistic mediums performing in premier music venues, festivals and events with local, interstate and international collaborators. In 2024 I released an album of experimental electronic music via renowned Australian underground music label Nice Music as well as completed Speak Percussion's Bespoke Artist Professional Development Program where I developed and presented a live audio-visual improvised performance piece.

Teaching Experience:

I have been teaching music for over fifteen years too, beginning at the age of sixteen teaching local kids in my neighbourhood. Currently, I hold a Senior Teacher position at Richmond Music Academy where I specialise in guitar and digital music production as well as operate my own private music tuition business from my studio in Footscray. Teaching is a natural passion of mine. I have a highly cultivated approach that comes from many years of working one-on-one with students of all ages, from all walks of life. Over the years I have a discovered a depth of understanding of the process of learning which I express with enthusiasm, awareness and precision to meet individual student needs.

I have taught students of all ages — from young kids to retirees, from beginners to seasoned musicians. I have successfully prepared students for auditions, exams and performances, given workshops and seminars, as well as written my own music theory short courses. I regularly teach using video conferencing software and since 2020 have been developing techniques to run effective guitar lessons in the online environment. I also teach digital music production and can interweave this into classes for those interested in recording and producing music with their guitar or setting up a home studio.

How it works:

Weekly, fortnightly and one-off lessons take place at my studio at The Cotton Mills Precinct (91 Moreland St. Footscray) and these are invoiced on a monthly cycle. There is no lock-in contract and you are free to start and stop lessons as you like. *The first lesson is half-price.

Please note: I also offer in-home music lessons for residents of Footscray, West Footscray, Seddon, Kingsville, Yarraville and surrounding areas for an added $15 transit fee.
