Jeremy Schiftan is an award-winning Melbourne-based drummer, composer, and music educator with over 12 years’ experience delivering instrumental tuition. He teaches students of all ages and levels, with lessons tailored to each student’s interests, goals, and stage of development.
Alongside his private teaching, Jeremy works in secondary school settings, teaching individual and group lessons and running ensembles. As an active performer and working musician, he brings real-world experience into lessons, helping students connect technique, theory, and musical feel in a practical and engaging way.
His teaching style is relaxed, encouraging, and structured, with a strong focus on groove, timing, musicality, and building confidence on the instrument. For beginners, lessons are supportive and motivating, while for older students and more advanced players, lessons can go deeper into reading and notation, music theory, improvisation, tone, dynamics, composition, aural skills, and ensemble playing.
Lessons are flexible and shaped around what each student wants to develop as a musician, whether that’s playing in bands, refining technique, or simply enjoying making music.
