Music Theory Lessons

Styles AMEB examinations and general music theory
Skill Level AMEB Grade 1-6
Pricing $35/$70 for individual lessons, much cheaper for group classes, price depends on group size (max 5)

Musicianship Lessons include the following and are tailored to your wants/needs:

AMEB Musicianship grades 1-6, AMEB Music Theory grades 1-6 as well as general music theory for those not sitting examinations. All areas of study required for examinations are covered in lessons.

Students are required to purchase the relevant work books and complete weekly homework.

Generally, students prefer to take a whole year of study for each exam but in some cases shorter periods of study are ok.

I teach one-on-one for $35/$70 and in classes of up to 5 students. For a class of 5 students the price is $10 per student per half hour.

AMEB practical exams require certain levels of musicianship or music theory to be completed in order to obtain your certificate for the practical examination. Besides this requirement, I believe that the development of musical knowledge, background and understanding is an essential part of playing music. For this reason I encourage all of my students to study music theory (of any kind) regardless of whether they are sitting exams or not.

Almost all of my students achieve a high distinction in their theoretical exams.

My teaching practice:

Quality and affordable expert direction for you or your child's musical education. I offer inspiring lessons with a vast amount of musical knowledge and experience in various genres to draw from, always tailored to suit you and your needs/wants. My lessons are fun and engaging while remaining appropriate and formal. Strong focus is made on student technique and musical understandings. I encourage versatility and provide a strong technical and musical foundation for you or your child to launch from in whichever field of study you want. Lessons with me are only part of a musical education as positive reinforcement, encouragement and exposure to music at home and in your environment are also keys to success.

My Studio:

My studio is a clean, safe and welcoming environment. I provide access to a vast amount of listen-able music, educational text books and audio-visual material as well as recording equipment. If desired, students are able to record their own CD's for reflection and/or keepsake. (What a good Christmas present for the grandparents!)

Students are encouraged to perform at end of term concerts for invited friends and families and their fellow student peers.

Studio Policies:

I offer a four week trial period after which lessons are payable a term in advance. Missed lessons without 24 hours notice are typically not caught up (unless special circumstances) however, given notice, I will do my best to catch up missed lessons at a time that best suits both of us.
