*COVID-19 UPDATE*** APRIL 1, 2022****

Welcome! :)
Firstly, thank you for stopping by and taking the time to have a look around!

[Please read below to find out about my current lessons.] (For "Acting Lessons" only please see the relevant tab.)

This is an UPDATE to advise that my studio is now FULLY online! All my lessons are now taking place via Skype.
This completely replaces my normal teaching studio and will remain online until further notice.

***I am also currently offering a one-time online SPECIAL to all of my lucky first-time students, a FREE 30 MIN first-lesson - which includes a consult, discussion with you (and your parents if applicable!) and of course some singing to assess your ability and offer some advice as to planning what you would like most out of your lessons.

Those who know me know that I would ALWAYS prefer to teach students in a more traditional one-on-one environment as that personable connection is much more preferable to communicating through a screen!

However - I have put together a lesson structure which successfully manages to incorporate the main elements of more traditional methods whilst STILL rising to the occasion of singing together via Skype, and most importantly having FUN!

*** Please feel free to contact me via the email provided if you have ANY questions or queries!

I look forward to singing together and welcoming you into my studio very soon! :)

Stay safe and KEEP SINGING! :)

SINGING LESSONS + ACTING LESSONS

Whilst Kate teaches a variety and mix of musical styles it should be noted that she will always teach a foundation in basic classic voice technique - other styles can then be built upon depending on each student's preference. *This is a fundamental - in Kate's view - of learning to sing.** (Please do keep this in mind before choosing to commence lessons, as she will not just teach "contemporary voice", without some BASIC classical voice technique incorporated.)

  • Styles: Opera, Classical Voice, Music Theatre, Jazz, Lighter contemporary
  • Ages: 9 years - Adults (teaching younger than 9 yrs only in exceptional circumstances, please email to ask if your child is under 9!)
  • Levels: Beginner / Intermediate / Advanced, VCE or IB, AMEB exams
  • Lessons: 30 min / 45 min / 60min

Sheet music and any other materials needed for the lesson will be provided. If you have a piano/keyboard available, it is advised to have the device you're using close-by so the piano can be utilised.

Two major fundamentals of the teaching include:

  • a solid emphasis on a basic level of singing technique with roots in classical voice, taught to every student,

  • a great attention on character development and acting to further understand the text/lyrics. In any piece, understanding a character's point of view and why a piece is being sung is an important element in the singing of any song.

Being a younger teacher, Kate has the added advantage of an energised personality, passion and her genuine flair for singing which is very easily communicated to her younger students.

Depending on each student and their specific goals, Kate will always adjust lessons accordingly. Some students who have a more "serious focus" on their singing will spend more time perfecting technique, scales and singing exercises before advancing, whereas those who are more interested in "singing as a hobby" (or younger) can focus on just exploring their love of singing for FUN!

The main emphasis is always for students to to ENJOY singing, no matter their age, level, goals or experience!
