Liam Baillie

Hiya!

I am a fiddle player and producer offering lessons in traditional fiddling from the Appalachia's, Scotland, French-Canada, Bulgaria, and Sweden (although my main specialty is Appalachian fiddle).

I don't have a set curriculum that I work from, as I believe in meeting people where they're abilities and interests are and that varies wildly from person to person.

As a tutor I tend to focus a lot on foundational aspects of musicality that I feel aren’t as present in violin pedagogy like learning by ear, rhythm, individual voice, and versatility, while also trying to help the student find what makes them excited about playing music and giving them the tools to be self-sufficient - ideally setting them up for a life-long journey of music making and exploration.

I have a Bachelor in Composition and Music Technology and as a performer I've been lucky enough to play regularly around Melbourne as well as at festivals such as National Folk Festival, Woodfordia, Big Sound, Floating Castle, and abroad in Slovenia, Italy, and Canada.

I also have a Victorian Working With Children's Check.
