Lucy Price

Lucy Price is a cellist who is equally passionate about performance, community engagement and education.

As a modern and baroque cellist, Lucy can be spotted on the stage regularly performing with various ensembles such as The Muses’ Delight, Ensemble Ancien and Evergreen Ensemble. In 2018 Lucy was awarded a grant from the Australia Council of the Arts to study baroque cello in Italy and the UK. Keenly interested in diverse musical styles, she has been educated in the art of communication and improvisation at the International School of Improvisation, Verona, Italy.

Lucy is passionate about introducing classical music to children, and has held the position of Lead Teaching Artist at the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra’s education program, ‘The Pizzicato Effect’. Her ensemble, ‘Morna and the Minims’ were featured artists in the 2018 Creative Victoria program, performing for children in schools around regional Victoria.

Lucy has performed at a number of festivals in Australia and internationally including the International School of Improvisation, Urbino Early Music Festival (Italy), British Isles Music Festival, Lake District Summer Festival (England), Tafelmusik Baroque Summer Institute (Canada), America Cantat Festival (Colombia), Peninsula Summer Festival and the Castlemaine State Festival (Australia).

Lucy holds a Bachelor of Music Performance from Sydney Conservatorium, and studied at the Australian National Academy of Music on full scholarship.
Lucy has recently completed an Advanced Diploma of Yoga Teaching, and is passionate about improving the wellbeing and outcomes for audiences and students alike.

Lucy currently offers lessons from her home studio in Ballarat, as well as online.
