Paul Ghica

Romanian-born, U.S.-trained cellist Paul Ghica has 18 years teaching experience, including positions on staff at Rising Stars Open Academy (University of Sydney Conservatorium of Music), and previously at the Merit School of Music in Chicago. Students range from amateur adults to young competition winners and Rising Stars award recipients. Mentors and pedagogy influences include János Starker, Richard Hirschl, Melissa Kraut, Barbara Haffner, Gary Stucka, Katinka Kleijn, and Lynn Harrell.

Performance credits include Co-Principal with the Civic Orchestra of Chicago, as well as series at Chicago's House Of Blues, Peninsula Hotel, and Off-Broadway in New York. He currently freelances with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra, and has enjoyed Guest Principal roles with the Opera Australia Orchestra and Melbourne Chamber Orchestra. He has also performed with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra and Orchestra Victoria.

Non-classical engagements include X Factor Australia, Australia's Got Talent, and Dancing with the Stars Australia, as well as recording work for studios such as Trackdown, Song Zu, and Massive Music. The sound of his cello can be heard worldwide across streaming platforms such as Netflix, Starz, and HBO, and in several films, video games, and APRA award-winning commercials.
