Flutist Michelle Kim, a graduate of the Schulich School of Music of McGill University, holds a bachelor’s degree in Flute Performance and Music Theory, studying under the guidance of Montreal Symphony Principal Timothy Hutchins. Michelle enriched her musical education further during an exchange program at Sibelius-Akatemia in Helsinki, Finland, under Professor Mikael Helasvuo.
Beginning her musical journey in Seoul with piano lessons at five, Michelle's passion for music flourished, leading her to commence flute studies at 12. Just three years later, at the age of 15, she was appointed principal flutist of the London Youth Symphony. With numerous prizes from the Canadian Music Competition and the Kiwanis Music Festival, Michelle has played in various ensembles and performed concertos with professional orchestras, showcasing her exceptional talent and dedication to musical excellence.
Michelle's extensive performance experience informs her teaching approach as she shares her passion and expertise with students of all ages, nurturing the next generation of musicians. With over a decade of teaching experience, she not only imparts foundational knowledge but also cultivates a deep appreciation for music through practical skills, fostering a lifelong love for music in her students.
