The SoundLab

We now have a MUSIC STORE at our incredible NEW location No. 1 Chapel St Saint Kilda, under the iconic Astor Theatre!!

With music a cultural force in Melbourne and the demand for artist development within the local community, The SoundLab was born to provide a platform for aspiring musicians or anyone wanting to express themselves as individuals with music.

The SoundLab was established in 2009 by Leah Gallin. Her experience and diverse involvement in the family business began with the Gallin’s Guitar retail store in 1998, she went on to become Marketing Manager for Australian Musical Imports the distributors of the Gibson family of brands, the Gallin’s Musician’s Pro Shop and Allans Billy Hyde chain of retail outlets across Australia.

The retail group had at its peak, over fifteen retail stores across the country which brought about the inspiration to move into music education with our flagship school The SoundLab. Our team also facilitated five Allans Billy Hyde Academies nationally. Allans Music still survives with over 160 years of history behind it.

With decades of experience at the helm of our business we have just about heard it all in the Australian music scene. We have a solid music industry background and attract amazing industry recognised professionals to our team.
