The West Australian Music Teachers’ Association (WAMTA) is the peak professional body representing the interests of music teachers in WA.
Our aims are as follows:
To promote and develop excellence in the art of teaching and in the practice and study of music.
To encourage and assist our teachers to obtain the necessary qualifications for accreditation and to continue to extend their skills and knowledge through participation in ongoing professional development.
To support our members in their professional role as music teachers by providing opportunities for professional development, social and professional networking.
*To safeguard conditions and general aspects of teaching for our members.
*To maintain a high standard of ethics within the music teaching profession.
Those seeking a music teacher can be sure that the teachers listed on our website are among the best you will find anywhere. All are thoroughly checked before acceptance into our organisation and have current Working with Children cards. Teachers listed on our database are either qualified or in the process of qualifying, with each teacher's level of membership/accreditation listed on their profile page.
WAMTA also fulfils an important role in providing a scale of recommended minimum fees which sets a financial and ethical standard within the industry. Schools and other organisations often consult our recommended minimum fees when employing music teachers.
