We have four excellent guitar teachers available, with specialties in classical, blues, rock and other contemporary styles. We also have a GUITAR ENSEMBLE for primary age students.
Guitar Teacher: Mark
Mark has established himself as one of Australia’s leading guitarists. He won first prize in the Australian National Guitar Competition in 1992. Concert engagements have included national broadcasts for the ABC, solo recitals in most major Australian cities and many regional areas; performances at the Adelaide International Arts Festival, the Darwin International Guitar Festival and appearances as a concerto soloist with orchestra. Mark is an experienced and dedicated teacher. Following eight years on the faculty of the Canberra School of Music, ANU, he has continually pursued his interest in teaching through several schools throughout Canberra, panelling tertiary guitar recitals at the ANU every year, and composing music for the guitar.
Guitar Teacher: Peter
ARIA nominated Australian musician Peter Gelling was born in 1960 in Bulli NSW, where he received his first guitar lessons at the age of nine. Peter went on to study classical guitar, theory, harmony and piano at the Canberra School of Music. His styles now include jazz, classical as well as blues, rock, funk, soul, hip-hop and folk traditions. Peter’s album award winning album Fortune (2003), features the spectacular voice of Sydney (ex Chicago) singer Doug Williams. Peter’s song “Tell me Blues” won the 2003 MusicOz Blues Award and “Strong Medicine” took second prize in the 2004 ISC International Songwriting Competition, judged by the legendary BB King.
