Seamus Kirkpatrick

Seamus Kirkpatrick has been a musician – composer, multi-instrumentalist (Bass Guitar, Clarinet, Sax and Flute) Vocalist, band leader and music educator – for over 20 years. He is now one of the directors of Independent Music Academy – Brisbane's premier private music tuition school.

He has performed regularly all over Australia at venues and festivals including The Woodford Folk Festival, The Big Day Out, The Port Fairy Folk Festival, Livid, The National Folk Festival, The Victorian Arts Centre, The Sydney Opera House, The Adelaide Fringe Festival and the Queensland Performing Arts Centre.

Seamus has worked and performed with ensembles including Shenzo's Electric Stunt Orchestra, Resin Dogs, The Charlie Moorland Trio, The Doch Gypsy Orchestra, Taxi, The Queensland Pops Orchestra and The Imogen Men's Chorus.

His music has been broadcast throughout Australia and in Europe and has had albums reviewed in international publications.

He is a passionate educator, business person and has been a director of Independent Music Academy for 11 years. He believes that music can shape lives and grow communities and is committed to seeing music performance become an everyday event for Australians, like kicking a football.
