Shiraz is an experienced teacher with over ten years of education and pedagogy under her belt. She loves sharing her passion for playing piano and other instruments. Shiraz relishes the opportunity to teach a wide variety of musical genres, ages and skill levels and can’t wait to meet her next rising star!
Shiraz’s musical journey probably started in the womb, with her mother strapping headphone’s to her belly to listen to the likes of Bach, Mozart and Chopin (favourite composer). At a very young age, Shiraz started out learning classical piano and taking exams and then moved on to a range of other fun instruments, including: alto and tenor saxophone; clarinet; flute; guitar; bass guitar; drum kit and harmonica.
She completed a Double Bachelor Degree in Secondary Music and Drama Education during her tertiary studies, receiving First Class Honours upon graduating. She completed her LMus in 2009 and furthered her musical education with a Masters degree in Music Performance, where she was awarded the Dean’s Scholarship for solo performance. Shiraz has taught in some highly regarded Queensland high schools since finishing University studies.
Additionally, Shiraz is a songwriter and published recording artist. Her music has its’ own YouTube channel with over 10,000 subscribers. Her original music has been played in 13 different countries on radio and Spotify, with her album available for purchase on iTunes. Shiraz, aka Raz, cheekily refers to her amazingly eclectic, genre-hopping and genre-blending music as wtf-alt-indie-folk-pop- rock-country-blues with a touch of soul, a taste of swing, a tang of Latin and a trace of funk.
